Using the watchlist
Learn how to add stocks to your watchlist and monitor them without owning them.
The watchlist lets you track stocks you're interested in without adding them to your portfolio. It's perfect for monitoring potential investments.
What is a watchlist?
A watchlist is a list of stocks you want to keep an eye on:
- Track price movements
- Monitor without owning
- Research before buying
- Compare potential investments
Think of it as a "shopping list" for stocks.
Adding stocks to your watchlist
From search
- Go to Markets in the sidebar
- Search for a stock by name or symbol
- Click the Add to watchlist button (star icon)
From holdings
See a stock in someone else's portfolio or mentioned somewhere?
- Search for it in Markets
- Add to watchlist for later research
Quick add
From the watchlist page:
- Click Add stock
- Search for the symbol
- Click to add
Viewing your watchlist
Open Watchlist from the sidebar to see:
- All watched stocks in a list
- Current price for each
- Today's change (price and percentage)
- Your notes (if any)
Available data
For each watched stock:

| Volume | Trading volume (if available) |
Sorting
Sort your watchlist by:
- Name (alphabetical)
- Price (high to low or low to high)
- Change (biggest movers)
- Recently added
Managing your watchlist
Removing stocks
To remove a stock:
- Click the star icon next to it (to "unfavourite")
- Or click the menu (⋮) and select Remove
Adding notes
Keep track of why you're watching:
- Click a stock to open details
- Add notes in the notes field
- Notes are private and only visible to you
Example notes:
- "Wait for price to drop below $50"
- "Interesting dividend yield, research more"
- "Potential competitor to my current holding"
Organising
Currently, watchlists are a single list. Future updates may include:
- Multiple watchlists
- Categories or tags
- Custom groupings

Use cases
Pre-purchase research
Before buying a stock:
- Add to watchlist
- Monitor price for a few days/weeks
- Research the company
- Buy when ready (or remove if not interested)
Waiting for entry point
You like a stock but think it's overvalued:
- Add to watchlist
- Set your target price in notes
- Check regularly
- Buy when it reaches your target
Tracking competitors
Own a stock? Watch its competitors:
- Add competing companies to watchlist
- Monitor their performance
- Consider switching if they outperform
Building a shortlist
Planning your next investment:
- Add several candidates to watchlist
- Compare their performance
- Research each one
- Narrow down to your choice
