Setting up push notifications
Receive daily portfolio value updates on your phone or desktop with push notifications.
Push notifications let you receive a daily update with your portfolio's current value and how it changed that day — without opening the app.
What you'll receive
Each notification includes:
- Portfolio value — Your current total portfolio value
- Daily change — Percentage change compared to the previous close
- Quick action — Tap "View portfolio" to go straight to your dashboard
Notifications are sent once per day at the time you choose.
Supported browsers and devices
Push notifications work on:
- Desktop — Chrome, Edge, Firefox
- Android — Chrome, Edge, Firefox (including PWA)
- iOS — Safari 16.4+ (via installed PWA)
Note: On iOS, you must first install TrackMyShares as a PWA (add to home screen) before push notifications become available.
Enabling notifications
- Open your portfolio
- Click the Actions button and select Notifications
- Select the Push tab
- Toggle the switch on
- Your browser will ask for notification permission — click Allow
- Choose your preferred time (available in 30-minute intervals)
- Choose your timezone
Your device is now registered and will receive daily updates.
Choosing a time
Pick a time that works for your schedule. Common choices:
| Time | Use case |
|---|---|
| Morning (08:00–09:00) | Check performance before starting your day |
| After market close (16:30–17:00) | See the day's final results |
| Evening (19:00–20:00) | Review during downtime |
Times are shown in 24-hour format with 30-minute intervals.
Choosing a timezone
Select the timezone that matches your location. Supported timezones include:
- North America — Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific
- Europe — London, Paris, Berlin
- Asia Pacific — Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth
The timezone picker defaults to your browser's timezone.
Testing notifications
After enabling, click Send test notification to verify everything works. You should receive a notification within a few seconds showing your current portfolio value.
If the test notification doesn't arrive:
- Check that your browser has permission to send notifications
- On mobile, ensure the app is installed as a PWA
- Try refreshing the page and enabling again
Managing notifications per portfolio
Each portfolio has its own notification settings. You can:
- Enable notifications for some portfolios and not others
- Set different times for different portfolios
- Use different timezones if you track markets in multiple regions
Notifications are available for all portfolio types, including consolidated portfolios.
Disabling notifications
To stop receiving notifications for a portfolio:
- Open the portfolio and click Actions → Notifications
- Select the Push tab
- Toggle off the notification switch
To stop all notifications from TrackMyShares, revoke notification permission in your browser settings.
