Managing multiple portfolios
Learn how to create, switch between, and organise multiple portfolios for different investment strategies.
PRO users can create multiple portfolios to organise investments by account, strategy, or goal. This guide explains how to make the most of this feature.
Why use multiple portfolios?
Multiple portfolios help you:
- Separate accounts — Track your brokerage, super, and crypto separately
- Different strategies — Keep growth investments separate from income investments
- Family tracking — Monitor portfolios for different family members
- What-if scenarios — Create a "watchlist portfolio" to track potential investments
Creating additional portfolios
To create a new portfolio:
- Click the portfolio dropdown in the header
- Select Create new portfolio
- Enter a name (e.g., "Retirement", "Trading", "Wife's portfolio")
- Choose the portfolio type (cost basis or transaction-based)
- Click Create
Your new portfolio starts empty, ready for you to add holdings.
Switching between portfolios
Use the portfolio dropdown to switch between your portfolios. The dropdown shows:
- Portfolio name
- Total value
- Today's change
Click any portfolio to view its dashboard.
Portfolio organisation tips
By account
Create a portfolio for each investment account:
- Brokerage — Your main share trading account
- Superannuation — Retirement investments
- Crypto wallet — Cryptocurrency holdings
This mirrors how your actual investments are held.
By strategy
Separate different investment approaches:
- Growth — High-growth stocks reinvesting dividends
- Income — Dividend-paying stocks for passive income
- Speculative — Higher-risk positions you're willing to lose
By timeframe
Organise by investment horizon:
- Long-term — 10+ year holdings
- Medium-term — 3-5 year positions
- Short-term — Active trading positions
Managing portfolio settings
Each portfolio has its own settings:
- Open the portfolio you want to configure
- Click Actions → Portfolio settings
- Adjust settings for this portfolio only
Settings include:
- Portfolio name — Rename your portfolio
- Set as default — Make this your primary portfolio
- Delete — Remove the portfolio entirely
Warning: Deleting a portfolio removes all its holdings and transaction history. This cannot be undone.
Setting up notifications
Each portfolio can have its own notification schedule:
- Open the portfolio
- Click Actions → Notifications
- Configure push or email notifications
See Setting up push notifications and Setting up email notifications for details.
Viewing combined totals
While each portfolio is tracked separately, you can see combined totals:
- Open the portfolio dropdown
- Look at the summary at the top showing:
- Total value across all portfolios
- Combined daily change
This gives you a quick overview without switching portfolios.
