New features: Email forwarding, portfolio rebalancing, and email notifications
Recording transactions shouldn't mean switching between your broker's email and your portfolio tracker. And keeping your allocation on target shouldn't require a spreadsheet.
This update introduces email transaction forwarding, portfolio rebalancing, email notifications, exchange rate display, and colour-coded allocation views.
Email transaction forwarding: Forward broker emails to record transactions
When your broker sends a trade confirmation, you can now forward it to TrackMyShares and have the transaction details extracted automatically.
How it works
Each transaction-based portfolio has a unique email address. Forward a broker confirmation email to that address, and TrackMyShares parses the symbol, quantity, price, fees, and date from the email content.
Parsed transactions appear as pending in your portfolio. A banner shows how many are waiting for review. Click Review to see each one, edit any details that need correcting, then confirm to add it to your portfolio — or reject to dismiss it.
You can also set up automatic forwarding rules in your email client so broker confirmations are sent to TrackMyShares without any manual steps.
Finding your forwarding address
- Open your portfolio
- Click the Settings icon in the toolbar
- Find the Email forwarding section
- Copy the email address
For the full setup guide, see Email transaction forwarding.
Email transaction forwarding is a PRO feature available on transaction-based portfolios.
Portfolio rebalancing: Maintain your target allocations
The new rebalancing tool helps you keep your portfolio aligned with your investment strategy.
Setting targets
Define what percentage of your portfolio each holding should represent. Enter target allocations for each position, save them, and TrackMyShares calculates what trades you'd need to make.
Rebalancing score
A score from 0 to 100 shows how well your portfolio matches your targets. Above 95 means you're well-aligned. Below 60 means it's time to consider rebalancing.
Trade recommendations
Once your targets are set, you'll see a table of recommended buys and sells — including the number of shares, current price, and how each trade moves you toward your target weight.
You can also model adding cash to invest: enter an amount, recalculate, and see how new capital changes the recommendations.
Find rebalancing under the portfolio menu. For more details, see the portfolio rebalancing guide. This is a PRO feature.
Email notifications: Scheduled portfolio summaries in your inbox
You can now receive portfolio value summaries via email on a schedule you choose — daily, weekly, or monthly.
What you'll receive
Each email includes your portfolio's current value, how it changed since the previous close, and a table of your top holdings with current prices and daily changes.
Setting it up
- Open your portfolio
- Click Actions → Notifications
- Select the Email tab
- Toggle on, choose your currency, frequency, time, and timezone
Weekly and monthly schedules let you pick which day to receive your email. Use the Send test email now button to verify everything looks right.
For the full setup guide, see Setting up email notifications.
Exchange rate display
Portfolios with holdings in multiple currencies now show the current exchange rate underneath your total portfolio value.
If you're viewing your portfolio in AUD but hold US stocks, you'll see the USD/AUD rate right on the dashboard. Exchange rates are sourced from Yahoo Finance and synced every 15 minutes.
The same exchange rate information also appears in email notifications when you're viewing in a currency different from USD.
Colour-coded allocation view
When viewing your portfolio chart by market or sector, the holdings table now colour-codes each row to match the chart.
Switch to the market view and you'll see blue for US holdings, green for Australian, and amber for crypto — matching the pie chart colours. Switch to sector view and each holding is colour-coded by its sector.
This makes it easy to visually connect a slice of your chart to the holdings that make it up.
