New features: Tax reporting, dividend calendar, and consolidated portfolios

TrackMyShares Team

Tax time and managing multiple investment accounts can be overwhelming. Between calculating capital gains, tracking dividend income, and keeping tabs on various portfolios, investors spend hours on paperwork that could be automated.

We're excited to introduce three powerful features that address these challenges: Tax reporting, Dividend calendar, and Consolidated portfolios.

Tax reporting: Capital gains and dividend summaries made simple

Calculating capital gains tax (CGT) for your stock portfolio shouldn't require a spreadsheet degree. Our new tax reporting feature generates comprehensive summaries of your capital gains, losses, and dividend income for any financial year.

What's included in your tax report

Capital gains tracking:

  • Separates short-term and long-term capital gains based on holding period
  • Applies region-specific discounts and inclusion rates automatically
  • Offsets losses against gains according to your jurisdiction's rules
  • Shows net capital gain or carry-forward loss position

Dividend income summary:

  • Total gross dividends received during the tax year
  • Tax credits and offsets (franking credits, foreign tax credits)
  • Withholding tax on international dividends
  • Assessable dividend income calculations

Holding-by-holding breakdown:

  • See exactly which shares contributed to your capital gains or losses
  • View dividend income and applicable tax credits per holding
  • Identify which sales triggered taxable events

Supported tax regions

Tax reporting adapts to your jurisdiction with region-specific calculations:

  • Australia — 50% CGT discount on assets held over 12 months, franking credit tracking for imputation credits, July-June financial year
  • United States — Short-term vs long-term capital gains separation based on holding period
  • Canada — 50% capital gains inclusion rate
  • United Kingdom — No CGT discount, flat rates apply
  • New Zealand — Generally no CGT

Simply select your tax year and region to generate a print-ready report for your tax return or accountant.

Dividend calendar: Visualise your income throughout the year

Income investors need to plan their cash flow. The dividend calendar gives you a month-by-month projection of expected dividend payments across your entire portfolio.

How the dividend calendar works

Monthly payment grid:

  • View all 12 months at a glance
  • See which shares pay dividends each month
  • Check expected payment amounts based on your holdings

Annual income metrics:

  • Total expected dividends for the year
  • Average monthly dividend income
  • Number of dividend-paying holdings in your portfolio

Visual comparison:

  • Bar chart showing dividend distribution across months
  • Identify months with higher or lower income
  • Plan around dividend payment cycles

Forecasting vs confirmed dividends

The calendar distinguishes between:

  • Confirmed dividends — Officially announced with payment dates
  • Estimated dividends — Projected based on historical payment patterns

This helps you understand which payments are certain and which are projections based on past dividend history.

Consolidated portfolios: One view across all your investments

Most investors hold shares across multiple accounts — perhaps a personal brokerage, a retirement account, and a separate trading portfolio. Switching between views to understand your total position is tedious.

Consolidated portfolios solve this by combining multiple portfolios into a single aggregated view.

What consolidation gives you

Unified holdings:

  • Holdings from all selected portfolios combined into one list
  • Shares of the same stock aggregated (100 shares from Portfolio A + 50 from Portfolio B = 150 total)
  • Single currency display for accurate total value

Full feature access:

  • Tax reports covering all source portfolios
  • Dividend calendar aggregating income from all holdings
  • Portfolio analytics showing overall allocation and performance
  • Gain/loss tracking across your entire investment position

Maintain individual control:

  • Source portfolios remain separate for individual tracking
  • Make trades and updates in the appropriate portfolio
  • Consolidated view updates automatically

When to use consolidated portfolios

  • View total net worth across investment accounts
  • Generate combined tax reports covering multiple portfolios
  • Understand overall dividend income from all sources
  • Analyse allocation and diversification across all holdings
  • Track performance of your complete investment position
